What I want Obama to do his first week in office...

Along with several other commenters I saw here, I think that the president should be able to multi-task. I disagreed somewhat with the priorities and the wording of others, so here's my shopping list for his first week or two: close Guantanamo -- this should be relatively easy.

- Shhh... I have been earnestly trying to forget that the president now has the power to basically set aside elections and declare martial law in (a presidentially-defined) emergency. I honestly don't believe a president could get away with nonsense like that, but yeah...

- Personally, I think that predicting a nuclear or biological attack somewhere on the planet within the next five years is just scaremongering.

- The auto industry will not be allowed to fail. In the short term, this almost certainly means a cash infusion and I expect even hard-line conservatives to fold on this score.
